UP NORTH 4TH

It’s time for an Up North 4th! So much fun coming up with parades, art fairs, the Cherry Festival and of course… fireworks.  So plan your fun and experience all northern Michigan has to offer this 4th of July.

July 2nd

Gaylord

Grab a spot at Otsego Lake County Park to watch the Independence Day fireworks the weekend before the Fourth. The show begins at 10 p.m.

 

Indian River

Fireworks at dusk and Devoe Beach

 

Walloon Lake

Independence Day Celebration, includes face painting & kids activities from 10am-5pm, live music featuring Jedi Mind Trip from 6-10pm, and fireworks at 10:30pm.

July 3rd

Bay Harbor

Petoskey Steel Drum Band at 7pm, fireworks at dusk.

Bellaire

Fireworks at Shanty Creek, behind the Lakeview Hotel at 10:20pm.

Boyne City

Arts and Craft Fair in Veterans Park from 10-5pm, boat parade at !2:30, Boyne City All Class Reunion at Veterans Park 1-3pm, Tommy Tropic at Sunset Park at 7pm.

July 4th

Alanson

The parade will not happen this year due to construction. But there is a Party in the Park on July 4th from 10:30-noon with live music, the Petoskey Steel Drum Band, BBQ and ice cream.

Beaver Island

Escape the crowds and head over to Beaver Island. Island festivities include a family-friendly carnival and 4th of July island parade. Enjoy fireworks over Paradise Bay from Whiskey Point, the Public Beach, the porch of the Beachcomber, your boat, or pretty much anywhere with a view of the sky over the bay.

Beulah

Starting at 8 a.m. is an entire day of activities to participate in at Beulah’s Fourth of July Celebration! A fireworks display over Crystal Lake will close out the event at 10:30 p.m.

Boyne City

Arts and Craft Fair in Veterans Park from 10-5pm, Grand Parade through downtown at 10am, 11-1pm is Boyne City Rotary “World Famous Chicken BBQ”: $15 for half a chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, roll, and a beverage. Veteran’s Memorial Park Pavilion, Old Fashioned Children’s Games sponsored by Kiwanis of Boyne City at Veteran’s Memorial Park. 12:30-2:30 Old Fashioned Children’s Games sponsored by Kiwanis of Boyne City at Veteran’s Memorial Park. 1pm is the Horton Bay Parade.   2pm – Boyne Area Chamber’s Annual Duck Race. Chances to win two $500 prizes, one $250 prize, one $100 prize, and seven $50 prizes. Purchase $10 tickets at the Boyne Area Chamber of Commerce. Race is on Boyne River.

2:30-3pm – Commemorative Raft Race: Rafts should check-in by 2pm at Riverside Park- 700 Spring St.

10:30pm – Grand Fireworks over Lake Charlevoix​ (Rain date: July 5th)

 

Ellsworth

Fireworks begin at dusk over St. Clair Lake.

Fife Lake

Fireworks will be launched over the lake.

Harbor Springs

Includes a morning run, all day art show in Zorn Park, music on the waterfront, parade at 1pm, and fireworks shot from a barge on the harbor at dusk.

Johannesburg

Following a parade, the Fourth of July fireworks will take place behind the Johannesburg-Lewiston School at dusk.

Leland

Parade at 3pm, Fireworks at dusk.

Mackinac Island

The day includes Stoneskipping Competition at Windermere Point, followed by fun family games in the afternoon, and two fireworks displays that will go off simultaneously at dusk.

 

Mackinaw City

Scheduled events include games on the Marina Lawn and one of the largest fireworks display in Northern Michigan at dusk.

Northport

Fireworks on the lawn of the Marina at Bay Front of Haserot Park at dusk.

Onaway

Parade at noon, fireworks at dusk.

Petoskey

The parade at 6pm through downtown is followed by music on the waterfront, ice cream social after the parade at the Little Traverse History Museum and the evening concludes with a fantastic fireworks display at dusk.

St Ignace

Combining the nostalgic sentiment of a small-town celebration with the picturesque backdrop of Lake Huron and Mackinac Island makes the 4th of July in St. Ignace something special.  Watch the parade at 4:00 PM, followed by other festivities at Little Bear Arena, and fireworks over Moran Bay at dusk, which will probably be around 10:30 PM.

Traverse City
